Indecipherable instuctions, flimsy frame that won’t stay square, With a bit of ingenuity and extra hardware it could be made semi-functional.

I got this screen door for our annual trip to family camp. It was easy enough to unfold and thumbtack to the inside of our cabin door, but the plastic tubing intended to secure the upper and lower portions just didn’t want to stay in place, so it was a bit wobbly. Also, there is a pretty good sized gap where the upper and lower sections meet on both sides (more so on the handle side), so it’s not entirely secure.
Despite that, it’s probably still better than mosquito netting by the yard tacked to the doorframe, which tends to get blown around.

First, the description of the product said there were no screws or nails necessary. Guess what, it came with two screws!!!! Also, it has curved corners that don’t completely cover the door way. Saying all that, for the money, it is not a bad product. I do wish it was grey instead of a bright white….it stands out and it isn’t the prettiest sight.

Bought this thinking it would be an inexpensive solution to the annoying spring time bug problem. Well, when I got the package and started read the instructions I was surprised at how confusing a few steps could be. First off, the pictures on the page were small and blurry, which made assessing what they showed quite difficult. Secondly, When put up it’s much larger than my door frame which means there’s no way to secure it closed from the inside. I have a 32″ door so there’s a 3-4inch over hang outside which is annoying. It comes with screw hooks to secure it closed, but since that part of the door is outside it’s hard to use them. I ended up using some magnets and a butter knife to get the door secure closed, but still able to open easily. For the price, I wasn’t expecting much, and it does provide a barrier between the inside and out, but the frame isn’t very sturdy and it’s quite a hassle to get working right. It’d be nice if it included a way to make the frame more ridged, but it doesn’t. Oh well. Not a total waste I guess.

Sadly, this product is not even worth the $12 or so I paid for it. If you really have a need to keep bugs out or pets in or something like that, I’m afraid you’re going to have to pay for a real screen door. This item just looks like a piece of junk stuck onto your wall. Because of its bendable frame, there is no way that it can really cover a door with no gaps, so in addition to having curb appeal similar to that of a blue tarp on your roof, it doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to do. Bottom line: putting this up is like decorating your doorway with trash.
